Move Radar in 30 seconds
How far a stock could move, and when a big move is more likely than usual. It does not tell you which way.
Big-move odds
The chance the price trades past the edge of its usual monthly range, up or down, at some point in the next 10 trading days. On an ordinary day that happens about 38% of the time. With an earnings report inside the window it is about 66%, and after a day on twice normal volume about 45%.
The cone
Where the price could be 20 trading days from now. The darker band holds 2 in 3 outcomes, the lighter one 9 in 10. When a report falls inside, the cone steps out on that day by this stock's own typical report-day move.
Earnings
A violet E marks each report on the chart. The Report days panel lists the last eight, so you can see whether this stock usually moves 2% or 10% on the news.
Heavy-volume days
Volume bars on 1.5× normal volume or more are coloured: green when the price closed well up, red when it closed well down, amber when it barely moved. They show where the crowd traded; in our tests they did not predict the size or the direction of the next move.
What every number on this page means
- Big-move odds
- How often a move past the two prices shown came within 10 trading days, in the same situation (report coming, heavy volume, or neither). For stocks it blends this stock's own history with 523 US stocks from 2016 to 2026; for funds, indexes and coins it uses the symbol's own history.
- Usual
- The same odds on an ordinary day for this stock: no report coming and normal volume.
- 2-in-3 range, 20 days
- The band the price ended inside about two times in three, 20 trading days later. It comes from how much the stock moved over the last month and the last year, plus the report if one falls inside.
- 9-in-10 range
- The same, nine times in ten. Use it for a stop you rarely want hit.
- Next earnings
- The next report date and whether it comes before the open or after the close. Est. means the company has not confirmed it yet, so it may move by a few days.
- Range held
- Every past week, the 2-in-3 range as it stood that day, checked against where the price really was 20 trading days later.
- Volume, latest day
- The last session's volume against the median of the 50 sessions before it. While the market is open, the volume so far is scaled to a full session.
- Report days
- The close-to-close move on each report day and how far the stock opened from the previous close.
- Heavy selling widening
- If a weekly selling cluster (three or more heavy selling weeks in six) began in the last four weeks, the range is 15% wider. After these, moves ran 10 to 20% bigger than volatility alone suggested.
Good to know. Across 523 US stocks from 2017 to 2026, the 2-in-3 range held 67% of the time and the 9-in-10 range 90%. The earnings part was fitted on 2016 to mid-2021 and held up on the years after. The stock list is today's companies, so ones that failed or shrank are missing. This describes market data; it is not a signal to buy or sell.
